Teaching JavaScript Course

First slide from lectures in JavaScript course

Two weeks before the start of the summer term at the Art Institute of Portland, I was asked if I could teach a course on JavaScript. I thought it sounded like an interesting challenge, particularly since I enjoy giving training, so I agreed to do it. There was no pre-established curriculum, so I spent two weeks finding useful materials for reading assignments, writing the syllabus, establishing a grading rubric, and coming up with ideas for class assignments. In the process, I reinforced my own JavaScript skills, and taught myself the basics of Angular JS, so that we could cover it in the course.

The students and administration were pleased with the outcome of the course, and asked me to come back and teach other courses. Unfortunately my schedule and availability made further teaching impossible, but the students and I had a good learning experience from the class.
